Will I Make It? [Sep. 8th, 2006|03:26 am]
[Current Location |At Work]
[mood |pessimisticpessimistic]
[music |Coldplay - Yellow]

So here's what's on my plate for this semester:

15 Credits of Classes
30-50 hours of work a week between 2 jobs
2 Clubs. One I'm an officer and Co-Chair person which requires extra meetings.
Vet School Application. Almost complete, but not quite.
Grad School Applcations. Once the Vet School application is done, I move onto these.

I'm also currently attempting to sell my car, and might be without a car for some time. This means I get to either walk my ass, bum a ride, or take the bus (last option being the worst).

So as my title asks: Will I Make It through the Fall of 2006? We shall see.

I'm actually posting..... [Jun. 12th, 2006|03:32 pm]

[mood |gloomyTired and irritable]
[music |Radio at work]

Ok, so I know a few people have mentioned how I've completely stopped entries in my Live Journal. And I'll admit, I don't really think about it anymore. I go to work, I stress, I achieve, I stress some more, I might eat, then I come home tired and usually disgruntled about one thing or another. I just don't think about Live Journal when I get home nor do I really have anything important to say.

So, now that I've said that, I'll just let you know that if my life ever does turn around and something "live-journal worthy" comes about I'll be sure to post it here. Otherwise, enjoy a summer away from my bitching. Cuz frankly, that's pretty much all I've got right about now.

Broomball Kicks Ass....... and it sure did Kick Mine LOL [Mar. 18th, 2006|10:05 am]
[mood |draineddrained]
[music |Paperthin Hymn]

So, last night was my first shot at Broomball. Let me tell you, if you've never played, you are missing out on one of the best times of your life. To explain it briefly, it's basically hockey on the ice without skates. You also use these funky sticks with a small paddle-like end and a big blue ball. Well, we played for an our (we being my Pre-Vet Club and our friends) and here are the best parts that transpired from it.

In the beginning, I wiped out while getting used to the ice. I was just running around and sliding before the game began, and I went to run and fell and nearly took out my friend Caitlin in the process.

I fell several other times that night, all in good fun. I was right back up and running again. Most of the falls were due to me trying to change directions too fast and not getting any grip, or it was me just finding an extra smooth spot on the ice.

I nearly body-checked Caitlin into the wall at one point. We were on opposite teams and she was at the ball with the ball coming towards her. I yelled "Oh no you don't!" As I ran full force at her to stop her from sending the ball down the ice. She screamed in horror as I hit the wall around her and prevented her shot. I then had to run like hell as she came tearing after me screaming "I'm gonna breath fire down your throat!" (Or something like that, I'll probably edit it when Caitlin tells me what she said, I was too busy running away).

I got hit in the chest with the ball. Not surprised that it happened, but it kinda hurt. But being the man that I am I kept playing (thank you adrenaline) and besides, the pain subsided after about a minute. Thankfully, no soreness today.

Later, our team was down about 3-0, and I had enough of it. For the first part of the game I was my team's goalie, and I wasn't doing too well. Though I have to admit I had no defense as it appeared my team preferred offense. So I told one of the drunk club members to take over the goal for a couple minutes and I raced to the other side with the ball. We mananged to keep the ball down at the other team's end for the majority of the game from that point on, but Caitlin's boyfriend, Josh, was the goalie and he was pretty good at it (not to mention he had like 5 girls that just stood in front of him blocking the goal cuz they didn't want to run around). Well, at one point we were attempting to get the ball in when Josh managed to get it in his hands to save it. I had had enough and I yelled "JOSH!!!" and dove at him. My plan was to tackle him (since he was already on his knees) into the goal to score our team a point. Well, first of all, my shout sounded more like a "OMG WATCH OUT I'M GONNA CRASH!" tone than it did false-anger like I intended it to. Part of it was because as I dove for him my foot slipped and I started to fall sideways. So I missed Josh and I just fell into the goal. I think it was the most hilarious part of the night. Everyone just looked at me when I got up and laughed hysterically; I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 minutes.

In the end, I think I came out with one lump just below my left knee and utter exhaustion. Running around on the ice really takes it out of you.

In the end, my team lost, but it was fun nonetheless. I hope to do it again sometime soon, so if any of you are involved in a club that is going to play and can invite friends, let me know!

One of the Oddest Things to Happen..... [Mar. 12th, 2006|12:57 am]
[mood |sickfeeling ill]
[music |Green Day Songs in my Head]

Ok, so I am at State College for my Spring Break. I had a friend from North Carolina come up and visit and we have been having a pretty good time so far. Getting drunk every night and just taking things easy. Well, Friday night we went to the Olive Garden with one of my local friends. There was a 20 minute wait so we decided to stand outside and chat while we waited. In the middle of our conversation, this woman with two young children walks up to us, looks at me, and says:

"Excuse me, you might find this offensive but, your face and head look a lot like Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. I pointed you out to my son and he just wouldn't stop looking at you."

I found this highly amusing and told the woman, "You know, my friends said the same thing back around Halloween when I died my hair black."

We then ended up sitting near the woman with her two children and at one point I looked over at her and she waved and mouthed "OMG it's Billie!"

It simply made my day...... it was so random..... but so cool. :-)

Killing myself again. [Feb. 2nd, 2006|05:04 am]
[mood |sleepysleepy]
[music |"Your Beautiful"]

So I've done it again. I've picked up a midnight-8am shift. On top of it however I worked 4:30-midnight right before it. So, in other words, I'm working 4:30pm Wednesday until 8am Thursday. Followed again by the usual classes. I have lost all control of my time management, and the first thing to be affected is my sleep. I'm not getting the hours I should be, and it's causing me to drag a little here and there. It's currently 5:00am and I've only got 3 more hours to sit through for this shift. 3 hours.... seems like it should go by like nothing considering I've been here for almost 11 hours, but I know these will be the slowest 3 hours of the entire shift.

I'm still mildly sick, which doesn't help my exhaustion, which doesn't help my sickness.... it's a terrible circle.

Anyway, I'll suffer through until 6, then go down to Uni Mart and get my coffee, then come back up and try and keep myself awake until 7:30 when people start arriving for the day shift. I'm not sure if I'll sleep during the 1.5 hours between work and class; my body tells me I will, but my mind tells me I'll feel like crap if I do. So we'll see. My 3 hour afternoon nap I had planned is being severely shortened due to making plans for lunch due to extenuating(sp?) circumstances. I'm just hoping my face doesn't fall into my food.

I know my last class I'll be dozing through the entire thing, it's almost not worth going. However, I feel bad blowing off classes that my friend has to suffer through simply because I chose to work. If I'm going to pick up these shifts, I'm going to deal with the consequences. I'd never stand you up Caitlin! Good luck though waking me up from the couch at 4:10 lol.

Alright, I think that's it for my little blurby-doo, I'm gonna go try and read my book again and count down the minutes to 6am. I don't want my coffee too early or else I'll need/want another cup before my shift is over.

I can't wait for my next two paychecks.......

Surviving the Midnight-8am shift..... [Jan. 26th, 2006|03:07 am]
[mood |sicksick]
[music |Nelly- Your Grill]

So being the money-greedy person that I am (mostly due to the minor heartattacks I have every time I receive my bills) I'm currently at work from midnight-8am. This is to be followed by a day of classes from 9:45-5:30. Thankfully there is a 3 hour period where I don't have anything going on, so you'll know that I'll be passed out on a couch in the Business Building.

This shift has sucked, since when I arrived there were two things of flyers (which I know the 4:45-midnight shift should have done at least one) and there were these stupid Fraternity Rush Invites that were dropped off that had to be put into the mailboxes for practically every guy in East Halls. So the desk worker and myself worked on those for 2.5 hours. There is still one more set of flyers but we are taking a break from it. This is the worst part of working here (well, besides dealing with certain people) and it is even worse when I'm getting sick. My back and shoulders were aching the entire time, and my lymph nodes in my throat always swell to a huge size and makes me fear the pain everytime I need to swallow. I've only lost my voice once or twice in my life, and it was never for very long, but part of me wishes I would, just cuz I don't feel like talking, and I'll be in even less of a mood to do so throughout tomorrow (or later today, for me).

I guess that's it. I get to meet Rico at 6am to take him around on my rounds and introduce him to some duties of the managers.... CONGRATS AGAIN RICO! I'm looking forward to this partly because it's the last hour or two that I always have the hardest time staying awake and he'll help me.
